Palestine Islamic Bank organizes an awareness workshop on Islamic banking at the Arab American University

As part of its efforts to raise awareness of banking services in general and Islamic banking specifically, the Palestine Islamic Bank (PIB) organized an outreach workshop on Islamic finance at the Faculty of Business at the Arab American University in Jenin. It was attended by a large number of students and teachers.

The workshop was opened by the Chairman of the Sharia Supervisory Board at PIB, Dr. Alaa Razia, who spoke to the participants about the difference between Islamic banks and commercial banks. He addressed the responsibilities of the Sharia supervisory bodies in Islamic banks in ensuring compliance with the Islamic Sharia and international Islamic banking terms. He also answered questions on the legal aspects of financial transactions and their details.

Dr. Alaa Razia stressed the great developments in Islamic banking services and products in Palestine in general and in PIB in particular. He highlighted that PIB kept pace with every new regional and global development in the field.

Commenting on this awareness workshop, the General Manager of PIB, Dr. Imad Al-Sadi said: “This is part of PIB’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness of Islamic banking and various banking services”. He explained that such efforts were made in parallel with PIB’s launch of many Islamic banking products and services that meet the changing needs and aspirations of clients.

Al-Sadi stated that PIB is committed to raising awareness and is organizing many events annually to promote the public’s interest in Islamic banking services. Such efforts will improve financial inclusion in Palestine and promote a finance culture among the public.

The head of the Accounting and Finance Department at the College of Business at the Arab American University took part in the workshop

Dr. Rajeh Alawneh, the Assistant Dean of the College of Business, Dr. Muhammad Abu Sharba, the Professor at the Islamic Finance Department, Dr. Fawaz Hammad, and the Professor at the Accounting Department, Dr. Hosni Rabaya attended the event. The Jenin Branch Manager Ashraf Lahlouh and Public Relations Officer Muhammad Morrar represented PIB at the workshop.
