PIB launches 3D Secure Cards system

The Palestine Islamic Bank (PIB) announced the launch of the 3D Secure Cards security system, as part of its efforts to preserve customer data security.

The new system contributes to enhancing the protection of bank credit card holders of all kinds when executing online payments, as it protects them from exposure to the risks of fraud, theft, forgery and unauthorized transactions. Through sending a one-time password (OTP) to the customer's mobile number, which can be identified by the bank when making any online purchase, it helps in verifying that the customer making the purchase is in fact the card owner.

PIB General Manager, Dr. Imad Al-Sadi stated that the 3D Secure system contributes to strengthening customers' trust in e-payment and online shopping solutions and encourages them to use such payment means in order to improve their seamless banking experience.

Al-Sadi added that: "Along with the achievements in the digital transformation field and the launch of new cards, the bank is also intensifying its work to improve its customers' data security and maintain the confidentiality of its data to prevent any fraud risks, especially in light of the growing trend towards electronic channels to request banking services.”

Al-Sadi also pointed out that the bank recently obtained a certificate of compliance with PCI-DSS data security standards for the second year in a row, after achieving the basic technical requirements for obtaining such, including developing and updating all systems related to managing security vulnerabilities, protecting card holders data, and building a secure network for devices that operate with the cards so that they are separate from the rest of the networks within the organization, in addition to constant monitoring of the payment systems for the cards and network testing on a regular basis.

PIB’s mission and vision focus on providing quality and modern Sharia-compliant banking solutions and investing in technology. PIB also has a digital transformation strategy, which led to the launch of pioneering digital services such as the 24-hour digital call center, Islami Online and Islami Mobile services. Such products and services provide a unique package of easy and safe banking services which enhance the digital experience for individual and corporate customers. The bank was recently awarded the 2021 “Best Islamic Bank” and “Best Digital Bank” trophy by the International Business Magazine.
