PIB and the Water Authority Stress the Importance of Completing the Implementation of the Water Treatment Plant Project in Hebron

The General Manager of Palestine Islamic Bank, Dr. Imad Al-Sadi, met with His Excellency the President of the Water Authority, Dr. Ziad Al-Mimi, at the headquarters of the Water Authority in Ramallah.

During the meeting, Al-Sadi stressed PIB’s commitment to further cooperate with the Water Authority and the rest of the partners to complete the implementation of the water purification plant project in Hebron, as PIB is financing the works to be completed by contractors. Al-Sadi described the project as vital and strategic since it will contribute to addressing many environmental and social issues.

Al-Sadi thanked Minister Al-Mimi and the staff of the Water Authority for their efforts and continuous endeavor to find solutions to any challenges facing the project to ensure its completion within the specified deadline, in addition to their work on implementing many other national projects that ensure sustainable development, stressing the openness of PIB to cooperate and partner with the Water Authority and all partners in this aspect.

In turn, Dr. Al-Mimi stressed that work on strategic projects must be carried out in an integrated manner to ensure their sustainability. As an important national and strategic project, the water purification plant project in Hebron is funded by the French Development Agency, the European Union and the World Bank. Once completed, the project will solve many economic, environmental and social issues and will ensure the availability of treated water in agriculture and manufacturing, while creating many new jobs.

Dr. Mimi added that the Water Authority is implementing the wastewater treatment plant project flowing through Wadi Al-Saman as part of the wastewater management project in Hebron, where the construction of the plant aims to treat 22,500 cubic meters per day and provide clean water to be reused in agriculture and manufacturing. The Water Authority was able to complete 80% of the construction works and supplies necessary for operation. It harnessed all capabilities to find solutions to the challenges facing the project’s implementation in cooperation with partners and contributors.

The meeting was attended by the Project Unit Director at the Water Authority, Eng. Ziad Daraghmeh, the Director of the Wastewater Management Program, Eng. Murad Faqha, the Assistant General Manager for Financial and Administrative Affairs at PIB, Rami Taha, and the Director of the Administrative Affairs Department at PIB, Loay Jaradat.
