Palestine Islamic Bank Holds Workshop on Cybersecurity
Palestine Islamic Bank (PIB) held a workshop on cybersecurity, its importance and the nature of the current threats in this field, with the participation of the Bank’s Chairman and members of the Board, the General Manager, the executive management and directors of departments. The workshop was presented by the expert in the field of cybersecurity, Rabih Barakat.
Ashraf Yassin, Chairman of the PIB Risk Committee, said that cybersecurity is one of the most important topics in modern banking services due to the high level of sensitive data and financial assets in light of the growing digital transformation and the need to effectively deal with cyber threats.
Yassin emphasized the significant attention given to this matter by the Board of Directors, in cooperation with the executive management in order to avoid cyber threats by building an integrated system for managing cybersecurity risks.
For his part, the General Manager of PIB, Dr. Imad Al-Sadi, said that alongside the distinguished digital services launched by the bank in recent years, great efforts have been made in the field of cybersecurity and many achievements have been accomplished, whether at the level of infrastructure or the regulations and policies in force in this field.
Al Sadi added: "The efforts we have exerted have contributed to enhancing the security and protection of our customers' data and accounts, and as a result, we have obtained many international certificates such as the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS) certification, all of which would not have been possible without the continuous support of the Board of Directors and the close cooperation at all administrative levels in the bank and under the supervision of the Sharia Supervisory Board."
Al-Sadi explained that PIB has also launched several internal and external outreach programs on topics related to cybersecurity due to the great importance of awareness in the face of the multiple and ever-changing cyber threats.
For his part, Mr. Barakat gave the participants a presentation on the most prominent current threats in the field of cybersecurity, effective ways to confront them and relevant risks.
