PIB takes part in AAOIFI Annual Islamic Banking and Finance Conference 2024

The Palestine Islamic Bank (PIB) participated in the 19th Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) Conference for Islamic Banking and Finance, which was held in Bahrain on the 3rd and 4th of November and included a number of discussions with senior Sharia scholars, policy makers, decision makers and other experts in the Islamic finance industry.

This year's conference was titled "Leveraging Islamic Finance to Build a Sustainable, Efficient and Resilient Halal Ecosystem for Muslim Economies" and PIB was represented by the Chairman of the Sharia Supervisory Board, Dr. Alaa Razia, and the Assistant General Manager for Financial and Administrative Affairs, Rami Taha, in addition to a number of representatives from Islamic banking and financial institutions worldwide, representatives of regulatory institutions and regional and international figures.

Speaking on PIB’s participation in the conference, Dr. Imad Al-Sadi, General Manager of PIB, stated that the conference addressed a number of important issues and is considered one of the most significant conferences in this field worldwide, noting that the bank is keen every year to actively participate in events and conferences related to the Islamic finance industry.

Al-Sadi added: "Scholars, decision-makers and policy makers gather at this conference to discuss the most pressing issues in the Islamic finance industry worldwide, and our participation in its sessions and side events contributes to the exchange of experiences to develop and innovate new services and products that meet the aspirations of our customers and their ever-evolving needs."

For his part, Dr. Alaa Razia said that many important topics and issues were discussed in the conference such as enhancing Islamic finance potential to build a sustainable halal system, improve supply chains, address governance and transparency issues in Islamic finance, and other relevant topics.

Razia added: "During the sessions, a scientific vision was presented that can serve as a foundation for providing constructive solutions to many of the challenges facing Islamic financial institutions, and this conference is an opportunity for those interested in the field and for decision-makers to study all the variables of Islamic finance and the new and innovative solutions created in this field worldwide."

On the sidelines of the conference, the PIB delegation held several meetings with many decision-makers and experts in the field of Islamic banking and finance, notably the Director General of the Islamic Development Bank, Dr. Sami Sweilam, and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of AAOIFI, H.E. Shaikh Ebrahim Bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa, during which they discussed cooperation means and challenges facing Islamic banking.
