PIB sponsors the “Banking Day” at the Arab American University
The Palestine Islamic Bank (PIB) sponsored the “Banking Day” activities at the Arab American University (AAUP), as part of its efforts to raise awareness of banking services and the need to keep pace with digital transformation, including promoting community awareness of financial technology.
The Banking Day’s activities were launched in the presence of the Executive Director of the Financial Stability Group at the Palestinian Monetary Authority (PMA), Iyad Al-Zitawi, the Companies Controller, Mr. Tariq Al-Masry representing His Excellency the Minister of Economy, Bashar Yassin, the Director General of the Association of Banks in Palestine, and the Vice President of the Arab American University for Academic Affairs, Dr. Muayyad Abu Saa, representing the university Dean. Representing PIB, the Director of the Northern region, the Director of the Marketing and Public Relations Department, and a number of branch and office managers attended the event. Representatives of banks operating in Palestine, specialized lending companies and electronic payment companies, as well as university students and academic staff were also in attendance.
The Banking Day was launched with an exhibition in which a number of banks, lending institutions and electronic payment companies participated. They presented their services to students and participants. It also included a number of workshops on digital transformation and financial technology, an employment day for graduate students and interactive activities.
In a comment on the Banking Day, the General Manager of PIB, Dr. Imad Al-Sadi, said that as part of its strategic plan, the bank contributes as much as possible to raising awareness about banking services in general and Islamic banking in particular. It does so in cooperation with various institutions to promote financial inclusion in Palestine.
Al-Sadi added: "Islamic banking is no longer traditional, it rather keeps pace with today’s requirements. It provides modern and state-of-the-art services that are Sharia compliant. Such services include IslamiTalk, Islami Mobile, Islami Online, World Mastercard and Platinum Mastercard. These services promote electronic payment solutions."
Al-Sadi stressed the importance of the topics covered in the workshops that took place, especially digital transformation, which has become a basis for developing and increasing the efficiency of various institutions. He also pointed out the importance of educating university students, as they will soon enter the labor market and have a high impact on their community.
Al-Sadi added: “Digital transformation has become a basic requirement today, and at PIB, it is part of our strategic plan given its importance in providing a unique banking experience for customers. It also helps in addressing the obstacles impeding financial inclusion. Through digital services, citizens can access remote banking services around the clock.”
In the same vein, Ibrahim Salman, Director of the Marketing and Public Relations Department at PIB, gave a presentation on the importance of digital transformation in Palestine, especially in the banking sector. He explained the role of digital transformation in increasing financial inclusion in Palestine by enabling citizens to access banking services quickly. He also reviewed the bank’s digital transformation plan and its importance in providing a unique banking experience for customers.
For his part, Dr. Muayyad Abu Saa delivered a speech on behalf of AAUP Dean. He said that the Banking Day is an effort by the university to work openly with the civil society, preserve sustainable and diverse partnerships, and provide all forms of support and knowledge to students.
He explained that the university pays great attention to extracurricular activities and stressed on the importance of the Banking Day. This day proves the ability and desire of Palestinian institutions in various sectors, to keep pace with the fast technological and technical developments and use them to provide professional banking services in Palestine. He pointed out that universities need to continuously keep up with the fast pace of global digital transformation and stressed that AAUP is making every effort to provide students with the knowledge, science and skills that allow them to stand out in the labor market.
The Banking Day provided an employment platform that connected graduates with banks and companies from the labor market. An event was organized for graduates of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences to provide them with job opportunities that match their specialties and skills.

It also sets a deliberate strategy to proceed with the digital transformation process, which resulted in launching pioneering digital services such as the 24-hour digital contact center, Islami Online, and Islami Mobile, which offer a distinctive package of banking services through an easy and secure environment that enhances the digital experience for its individual and corporate customers. PIB has also recently won "The Best Islamic Bank Award" and " The Best Digital Bank Award" in Palestine for the year 2021, according to International Business Magazine (INTLBM).
