Palestine Islamic Bank Supports Two Cancer Care Associations in Tulkarm and Gaza
As part of its sustainable social responsibility program, Palestine Islamic Bank (PIB) supported the Friends of Cancer Patients Association in Tulkarm and the Basmat Amal (Smile of Hope) Foundation for Cancer Care in Gaza.
Khitam Abu Aita, PIB’s North District Manager, met with Talal al-Saleh, Manager of the Friends of Cancer Patients Association, in the presence of members of the Association’s administrative board and PIB’s branch Manager in Tulkarm, Ammar Yasin. The two sides discussed work progress in the activities undertaken for the benefit of cancer patients, as well as their future plans.
Al-Saleh stated that the main focus of the Associations is to provide psychological support to patients who are desperately in need of backing and moral support, pointing out the efforts made by the Association staff in terms of cancer awareness and remedial mechanisms. Al-Saleh praised PIB’s leading role in responding to the call of cancer care institutions and providing them with the necessary support.
In Gaza, PIB’s Gaza district Manager, Adnan al-Fleet, and Chairman of “Basmat Amal” Foundation, Mahmoud al-Neirab, discussed the work progress in the Foundation’s various projects and programs, such as the patient transfer program, which receives annual support from the Bank.
In addition to patient transfer, al-Neirab indicated that the Foundation implements annually dozens of cancer care activities for patients and their families, such as free medical consultations, psychological debriefing sessions, and other educational and health programs.
On his part, Imad al-Sadi, General Manager of PIB, stated that the Bank allocates a significant portion of its annual support to the health sector, which is vital for achieving sustainable development. He said the Bank aspires to plant the seeds of hope for cancer patients and to be a bridge towards their cure.
“Our support to cancer care institutions has become part of our annual agenda,” al-Sadi added. “We believe that such support would enable patients to overcome challenges and defeat the disease, especially under the difficult economic conditions that their families are suffering from.”
PIB devotes most of its social responsibility program to supporting health and education sectors, which are vital parts representing the basis for achieving sustainable development.
The mission and vision of PIB revolve around providing comprehensive high quality and modern banking solutions, following the provisions of the Islamic Sharia laws and investment within an advanced technological perspective. It also sets a deliberate strategy to proceed with the digital transformation process, which resulted in launching pioneering digital services such as the 24-hour digital contact center, Islami Online, and Islami Mobile, which offer a distinctive package of banking services through an easy and secure environment that enhances the digital experience for its individual and corporate customers.
