Palestine Islamic Bank Honored the Winners of the Scientific Research Award 2020
Under the auspices of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Mahmoud Abu Mowais, Palestine Islamic Bank (PIB) has honored the winners of the “Palestine Islamic Bank Scientific Research award 2020” which was organized in partnership with the Ministry.
The ceremony was held in Yasser Arafat Hall at the Ministry of Education HQ in Ramallah, while respecting all health protocols and preventive measures. It was held in the presence of the Minister of Education and Scientific Research representative: Dr. Ahmed Othman, the General Manager of Development and Scientific Research at the Ministry, and Dr. Muammar Shteiwi, the Head of Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission. The delegation of the PIB was headed by the General Manager Mr. Imad Al-Sadi, Mr. Asem Masri, the Assistant General Manager for Planning and Development as well as Mr. Ibrahim Salman, the Director of Marketing and Public Relations.
During his speech, the representative of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Othman, praised the efforts of the PIB in supporting the process of scientific research in Palestine and emphasized the importance of cooperation between all sectors in this regard. He also noted that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is exerting great efforts to support and encourage scientific research. Particular efforts are made to establishing a scientific research bank and to build an educational system based on scientific research.
Mr. Al-Sadi assured that the PIB award is part of the Bank’s approach to support the educational sector within the framework of its Social Responsibility Program. He indicated that the development of scientific research is an essential factor for achieving sustainable development goals. Mr. Al-Sadi also emphasized that the PIB award aims to encourage researchers to increase their research production and conduct authentic and specialized research that is intended to boost the research scenery in Palestine. Importantly, Mr. Al-Sadi alluded to particularity of the 2020 PIB Award, indicating that: “The Bank has been organizing this award for several years. However, this year’s version was distinctive because it was organized under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Additionally, the 2020 Award included several trainings for researchers from various Palestinian universities with aim of improving their research skills to publish in international scientific journals. This is in addition to other scientific workshops that aim at promoting research production, enhancing the educational process and the standard methodology for developing competencies as well as developing training in the work environment.”
Mr. Al-Sadi further stressed the importance of the continuous cooperation between the Bank and the Ministry in promoting the culture of scientific research in the educational process. He also indicated that the Bank is willing to provide funds to implement and advance research projects.
The ceremony also included a presentation about the scientific importance of the winning researches that belong to the fields of economics and banking, economic empowerment of women and other disadvantaged groups. This is in addition to researches that aimed at enhancing the status of Jerusalem, the quality and excellence in higher education, as well as the development of a system for technical and vocational education.
On the other hand, Dr. Ahmed Othman stated that the winning researches added important scientific value, indicating that the evaluation process was conducted by a jury of highly qualified specialists in the field of scientific research in various Palestinian universities.
It is noteworthy that, in addition to the PIB efforts to support scientific research, it allocates a large part of its social responsibility program annually in favor of supporting the educational process. This includes building classrooms and health facilities in schools and developing their infrastructure, as well as the provision of educational supplies, equipment and aids. It also provides a financing program to install educational services in accordance with the provisions and principles of Islamic sharia.
