Palestine Islamic Bank Honored the Winners of the “Palestine Islamic Bank Scientific Research 2019” Award

Under the auspices and in the presence of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Mahmoud Abu Muweis, Palestine Islamic Bank and Palestine Polytechnic University honored the winners of the “Palestine Islamic Bank Scientific Research 2019” award.

Palestine Polytechnic University President of the Board of Trustees, Professor Ahmed Saeed Al-Tamimi, University Association Council members; University President, Dr. Imad Al-Khatib, his deputies, faculty deans, members of administrative and academic bodies at the university, and representatives of the activities and institutions of the Hebron Governorate participated in the ceremony held at Palestine Polytechnic University in Hebron. However, attendees on behalf of PIB included, General Manager Bayan Qassem, his deputy Imad Al Saadi; Director of the Southern District Nizar Bali, Director of Marketing and Public Relations Ibrahim Salman, and a number of branch and office managers.

During his speech, Abu Muweis thanked PIB on behalf of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. He also thanked the government for its continuous support for education, especially in the field of scientific research; stressing the importance of concerted efforts from all sectors in this field.

Moreover, Abu Muweis indicated that the Ministry attaches great importance to developing scientific research in Palestine, and is keen to establish a bank for scientific research wherein all scientific research conducted in the country shall be collected and classified; while stressing the importance of having scientific research-based teaching. Abu Muweis also thanked Palestine Polytechnic University for the efforts exerted to help advance scientific research in Palestine.

For his part, PIB General manager Bayan Qassem, confirmed that this award is part of the Bank’s approach to support the education sector within the framework of its Social Responsibility Program; indicating that the development of scientific research is an essential factor for achieving sustainable development. He also praised the efforts of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in this field, and the efforts of the Palestine Polytechnic University, which are aimed to achieve the goals of the award and attract distinguished research; while stressing the depth of the relationship that links the university to both sides.

Furthermore, Qassem indicated that the Bank is ready to finance any applied project for any of the scientific researches being conducted; which comes as a confirmation of the Bank’s endeavors to support and achieve the development process through advancing scientific research.

In turn, Professor Ahmed Saeed Al-Tamimi thanked the researchers from Palestinian universities, and expressed his happiness and appreciation “for these research efforts feeding into the elevation of scientific research in Palestine, which are intended to serve the Palestinian community and improve the quality of research and scientific publications.” He also thanked the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the management of PIB for their efforts in motivating researchers to conducted more applied scientific researches.

Additionally, Dr. Imad Al-Khatib stressed the importance of encouraging fruitful competition between the institutions of higher education, which promotes exchange of research experiences and cooperation in order to build a new generation capable of realizing the desired advancement based on awareness, science and knowledge. He also praised the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for his interest in this award, and thanked PIB for their keenness to serve the educational process in Palestine.

The ceremony included a presentation on the award presented by the Dean of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at Palestine Polytechnic University, Dr. Murad Abu Subeih, which included interventions by the winners about their research and scientific contributions; whereas the judging committee that evaluated the research for this year included members from several Palestinian universities.

It also should be stated that the award is divided into six categories, over which researchers from different universities in the country compete for. The awards are divided as follows: the ‘Excellence Award in Scientific Publishing’; the ‘Research Excellence Award for Postgraduate Students’; the ‘Best Applied Research Award’; the ‘Research Abundance Award’; the ‘Research Groups Award’; and the ‘Research Excellence Award for Graduate Project Supervisors’.
