As Part of Its Relief Efforts: PIB Contributes to Equipping 5 Health Centers in the Gaza Strip

As part of its ongoing relief efforts, Palestine Islamic Bank (PIB) has signed a cooperation memorandum with the Juzoor Foundation for Health and Social Development to equip five health centers in the Gaza Strip. The initiative aims to provide these centers with necessary medical equipment and medicine to deliver essential health services in targeted areas.

This memorandum is part of PIB’s commitment to its corporate social responsibility and its keenness to contribute to improving the health situation in most affected areas, particularly in light of the significant challenges facing the health sector in Gaza due to current conditions.

The signing ceremony took place at the PIB General Headquarters in Ramallah, and was attended by the General Manager, Dr. Imad Al-Sadi, and the General Manager of Juzoor, Dr. Umaiyeh Khammash, along with representatives from both organizations.

Under the agreement, PIB will support the outfitting of five health centers across different areas of the Strip. This includes providing basic medical devices and health supplies to ensure these centers can enhance their primary care services, reach a larger segment of beneficiaries, and alleviate the pressure on existing health facilities.

Dr. Imad Al-Sadi, General Manager of PIB stated:

"This initiative stems from the Bank’s firm commitment to its social responsibility. It aligns with our strategy to support vital sectors that the Bank and its Board of Directors prioritize, specifically health and education. We emphasize the importance of partnering with specialized civil society organizations, as they play an active role in reaching those most in need."

Dr. Al-Sadi also emphasized the Bank's permanent endeavor to contribute to enabling all citizens to access comprehensive healthcare across all segments of society, particularly in light of the difficult humanitarian and living conditions experienced by our people in the Gaza Strip.

He added that this memorandum is part of a series of interventions the Bank has conducted recently in Gaza, which include providing relief aid to displaced persons and contributions supporting the education and health sector—most recently through an agreement with the Ministry of Education to establish a school in Gaza and an agreement with SOS Children’s Villages to cover the educational expenses of 200 children.

For his part, Dr. Umaiyeh Khammash, General Manager of Juzoor, stated:

“Juzoor’s interventions contribute to alleviating the suffering of our people in Gaza by providing integrated health and community services, including primary healthcare, nutrition programs, psychosocial support, and community rehabilitation”

He added: “With great pride and appreciation, we extend our sincere thanks to Palestine Islamic Bank for its continuous support of our team in Gaza. This support embodies a genuine commitment that contributes to alleviating the suffering of our people in Gaza, supports the healthcare system, and bolsters their resilience amid the most difficult circumstances. This is not the first time the Bank has stood by us, demonstrating its ongoing commitment to supporting our work and serving our people in Gaza, alongside its support for numerous other initiatives, which reflects its active role in supporting humanitarian efforts.”

Dr. Khammash explained that this support enables the foundation to continue providing vital services and serves as a living example of how Palestinian institutions can unite to embody values of resilience and solidarity in the face of challenges.

Juzoor currently manages 12 community health centers and 10 medical hubs in the Gaza Strip, serving approximately 100,000 patients monthly, including thousands of children. The foundation provides specialized treatment for children suffering from malnutrition, alongside community rehabilitation and psychosocial support programs.

The sustainable CSR policy of Palestine Islamic Bank emphasizes the necessity of contributing to the development process and playing an active role in serving society and relief efforts. This approach aims to improve living conditions and enhance the resilience of the Palestinian people in line with the Global Sustainable Development Goals.
